About me

My name is Caroline Sharley...

... and the Giggling Grape was born, because I love wine! I love drinking it, learning about it, and talking to people about it. I loved it enough to start the exacting two-year Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma. And still loved it at the end!

Life before Giggling Grape....

I also started the Giggling Grape because after 20 years, inside and outside organisations as a Chartered Psychologist, doing training and development, one-to-one and team coaching, and culture change projects … frankly, I wanted something lighter!

Hence a wine business that at its heart is a desire to bring laughter and connection into the world, so that people leave whatever event, or even conversation, feeling that bit better about life. A bit more positive, a bit more optimistic.

Cheers!

So why wine?

I’ve come to see that the world of wine is full of what I care about. It’s packed with people doing something they believe in.

  • Small producers caring for their land and vines as their family has done for generations.

  • Fresh thinking growers introducing new grape varieties in the face of climate change.

  • Passionate importers overcoming endless red tape to bring wines that speak to them to a new audience.

  • All along the growing chain from grape to glass are people who care. And I really love that.

So, I would love to welcome you to an event, a training session, or say hello over a glass of wine!

    Cheers!

PS – my sliding doors moment …

… aged 17 and studying my A levels; asked by my tutor what I wanted to do, I found myself saying “I want to be a Master of Wine.” My tutor resisted rolling his eyes at such a precocious statement, and instead suggested I join the catering students doing their Wine and Spirit Education Trust course. I did … then went to University to study Psychology before emerging from the corporate world decades later and starting all over again!

I wonder what would have happened if …
