TASTE 2025!!

Slight blurry around the edges after yesterday’s pilgrimage to the epic celebration of flavour in London’s Regent Park that is Taste of London.  I’m sure it was the long train journey …

How on earth …

… have Dearly Beloved (yes, the same one!) and me been going for 20 years.  TWENTY YEARS!!!!  It’s changed massively (British Airways no longer has a pop-up lounge with free-flow champagne …. yes really!!!!) but the people make it and the people are the same.  Just as passionate for what they sell, make or bake, ferment, brew or fry!  And the gorgeous warm-hearted (yesterday melting) crowd always up for some great food and fabulous drinks.  And random acts of kindness – like the woman (possibly also slightly blurry this morning) who donated about £40 of outstanding dim sum to us yesterday cheerily announcing “I don’t know why I got them – I’m a vegetarian!”

Fave sips?

An outstanding Mezcal @mezcalreina Paloma … OMG.  Sooooo smooooooth – and punchy! Well, that and the ‘let’s get the party started’ Piper Heidsieck rosé …. perfect sparkling fresh strawberries in a glass, and surely a winner when they give you a fan in 38 degrees! And not to be forgotten, the great gals cheerfully bringing Korean fruit drink @jinro.uk to the UK … oh, and they gave us a fan too!

Learning of the day?

From a wise Gen Z … “zebra striping” … nope not a road crossing, but alternating alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks!  Well, reader, I almost succeeded ….

If you’re heading to Taste over the weekend, have a FABULOUS time … and here’s to you scoring a fan!!
